Mou Mou Kai Café

Ruatāhuna’s very own Mou Mou Kai Café is the only café situated in the heart of Te Urewera. MMK Café provides an assortment of barista made hot beverages, produced from a high quality commercial espresso machine. Our range of iced beverages are a hit as we make tasty foamy frappes topped with whipped cream and refreshing smoothies blended in our ice crushing blender.

MMK produces restaurant quality meals with a Tῡhoe spin on it, also taking into consideration the well-being of our people providing healthier methods of cooking. Our menu consists of great breakfast options with your traditional all day breakfast, eggs benny and a sweet French toast made with honey from our local business Manawa Honey NZ. Our lunch options include a salad, a lamb burger which has a Kawakawa infused lamb patty, a surf & turf served on a toasted rewena bread, our Te Urewera version of fish & chips with crumbed Kawakawa and a Te Urewera burger with marinated beef rubbed in horopito served on our Rewena bread.

This community led café is a beacon of pride for Ruatāhuna; a place to produce and showcase quality kai for locals and visitors to Ruatāhuna alike.

The café provides an area for people and whānau to congregate and on the right day when our Mist Maiden Hinepῡkohurangi clears, there's nothing better than sitting in the sunshine in the Heart of Te Urewera.
